I’m Gumby Darn it! Look at this new sleeping bag!

10 01 2008

Sorry folks, I know this is supposed to be a real estate blog, but I broke that tradition quite a few days ago, so I am going to break it again!

In my downtime(which isn’t much), a couple of times a year I go backpacking.. My trips range in size from 1-4 days, and culminate in my big trip which generally is 8 days in the sierra’s(near Fresno, CA). This year we are thinking about doing Boise, ID.. WHOOPEE!!

Anyways, I have a convertible mummy-style sleeping bag, and it is rated to 5 degrees(hit that a couple of times). It works for what I want, but it isn’t the most comfortable, especially when you are used to sprawling out on a king sized mattress at home.. hehe

I spend quite a chunk of change each year on equipment, and I assume this year will be no different.

ANYWAYS, I saw this sleeping bag and I think it looks like a great idea… Of course you lose a lot of your heat because your body isn’t touching itself, but I sleep extremely warm anyways, so that doesn’t really bother me…. Their current offerings appear to only be rated down to 40 degrees F, which simply wont do.. So maybe when they come out with the Selk Bag Three I will relook at them!

Cheap DIY lighting with high end appeal!

10 01 2008

Since I am on a light kick, I found these DIY light fixtures that anyone could build themselves! Adds a neat “How did they do that” kind of effect and could help sell your home! e.g.- Wow, if they did something that neat for their eat-in kitchen, imagine whatother neat things they did?!?!

You would have to play with it, but it looks to me like you could wire up one light bulb, and then use hot melt glue to adhere other light bulbs to the design. You would have to be careful, because you wouldn’t want the lightbulb to heat up and melt the glue. As I think about it, you might be able to trap the live light bulb in the design and not have any hot glue on the live bulb at all…. Could be fun to play with. It’s definitely got the “NEAT” factor going for it, and it would be pretty cheap to create.
