Great overview of the different types of windows and options available. I'm in the process of choosing my windows and just posted a much less thorough post, but I'm looking for advice. Check out my blog and let me know what you think: www.saccoleone.wordpress.com

Finally, a real estate professional who understands larger economics!
It's laughable, but Pareto's principle works for those who understand it.
80% of the people who know it, still waste 80% of their time (including me)

For the Insanely focused professional, I like Timothy Ferris' book, "The 4 Hour Workweek" He takes Pareto's principle and puts it on steroids.

In my opinion, the banks list the property at Market-Rate minus the repairs.. If they do not get any takers after a month or so, they generally will start to lower the price.

So a 200k house that needs 50k in repairs would start out at 150k. Now that 50k in repairs is what a handyman would pay to get things done, not having contractors do the work...

Any Realtor can help you find REO/bank owned properties. They are listed in the MLS just like any other property. Ideally, look for a Realtor who ACTIVELY works with investors and understands the investing side. They are going to know more ways to save you money when it comes to dealing with banks.

Thank you for a concise and easy to understand article. Now a question for you. When a bank buys back the property at auction and sells it via REO, are the homes sold at market-rate, or just above what they paid for it at the auction. Where do we find realtors who sell these properties?
